Office moves

Office Relocation IT Services and Network Cabling

Office relocation IT services make sure your team walks into the new space on the first morning and everything works: internet, network, WiFi, phones, printers, and computers.

We plan the technology side of the move weeks ahead, coordinate the vendors, and handle the cutover.

Planning

Office relocation IT services start early

The most common moving-day disaster is no internet. Business circuits can take weeks to install, and the order has to be placed early. Cabling, rack space, and power for network equipment also need planning before the walls close up.

We join the project early, walk the new space, and build a timeline that lines up with your lease, contractor, and movers.

What we handle

  • Internet and backup line orders
  • Cabling plans and installer coordination
  • Network rack, firewall, and switches
  • WiFi with WPA2 and WPA3 security
  • Phones and number transfers
  • Computers, printers, and conference rooms

Our 8-week office move timeline

Bigger offices need longer. This is a typical small office plan.

Weeks 8 to 6

Walk the new space, order internet, plan cabling and equipment.

Weeks 6 to 4

Cabling installed, network gear ordered, phone plan confirmed.

Weeks 4 to 2

Network built and tested in the new space before the move.

Final week

Label everything, back up every system, schedule the cutover.

Move weekend

Equipment moved, connected, and tested desk by desk.

First week

A technician on hand to fix anything that slipped through.

How the move day works

  1. Shut down cleanlyBack up and power down on Friday afternoon.
  2. Move and connectSet up the rack, network, and each desk over the weekend.
  3. Test everythingEvery computer, phone, and printer checked before staff arrive.

Network cabling for a new office

Cabling is the part of a move you only get one chance to do cheaply. Once walls and ceilings are finished, adding drops costs more and takes longer. We help plan how many connections each desk, printer, camera, and access point needs, and where the network closet should go.

Cabling checklist

  • Enough drops per desk, plus spares
  • Ceiling drops for WiFi access points
  • Cabling for cameras and door access if planned
  • A labeled patch panel that matches the floor plan
  • Power and cooling for the network rack
  • Testing records from the installer

A good time to upgrade

A move is the cheapest moment to replace an old firewall, add better WiFi, or retire a server and move to the cloud. We will point out what is worth upgrading and what can move as is. See cloud migration services if a server is part of the decision.

Protecting data in transit

Computers and servers get bumped and dropped. We back up everything before the move and make sure laptops are encrypted. Old equipment you leave behind should be wiped properly; the FTC’s guide to protecting personal information covers safe disposal.

Law firms have specific needs during a move; read law office moves and cabling for those details.

Who we coordinate with

An office move involves the landlord, the general contractor, the electrician, the cabling installer, the internet provider, the phone provider, the copier company, and the movers. Each one has a date that depends on another. Our office relocation IT services include keeping that technology timeline in one place, confirming each vendor is on track, and flagging problems before they become move-day surprises. You get one point of contact for every technology question, and a short weekly update until the move is done.

Office relocation IT services FAQ

How early should we call?

Eight weeks before the move is ideal. Internet orders are usually the longest lead time.

Do you install the cabling?

We plan the cabling and coordinate the installer, and we handle the network side ourselves. Ask about your project and we will explain the scope.

Can we move without downtime?

Most moves happen over a weekend so the office is down only when it would be closed anyway.

Will our phone numbers move with us?

Yes. We coordinate with the phone provider so numbers ring in the new office.
